Los Angeles, CA, May 16, 2018 – Just Jazz Series, kicking off Wednesday, May 23rd with the highly notable and internationally recognized Walter Smith Quartet will benefit a new charity organization every few weeks.

In an environment which will rival any jazz venue currently in L.A. and across the country, the Just Jazz Series has chosen an eclectic environment and well known charity to offer a series full of musicians who are of the highest level of cutting-edge jazz in the scene today. Benefitting charity organizations will rotate every three weeks with the first three dates focus on the The California Jazz Foundation (www.californiajazzfoundation.org), a charitable, nonprofit organization created to aid and assist California jazz musicians in financial or medical crisis. Established in 2006, the Foundation was formed to fulfill an unmet critical need to help these talented artists who have given us so much pleasure over the years – often with so little reward.

“The California Jazz Foundation is committed to providing access to quality social and economic services for all eligible applicants. We do so through a team of caring, knowledgeable professionals in collaboration with community partners.”

Mr Musichead Gallery, the venue for the series, is a brand new space for presenting jazz in L.A. The gallery space not only offers an interesting backdrop of music-related art and photography of all genres and styles, but also includes a covered outdoor patio which will host pre-show parties with a live music transmission over the internet and interviews with the evening’s musicians. (The current photography exhibit with a dedication to Prince is reason enough to attend within itself.)

The series is also proud to be working with sponsors from the local L.A. community, including a brand sponsorship from Gretsch Drums, Guitar Center, and a partnership with the legendry Los Angeles “fine foods of Mexico” establishment, the next door El Compadre restaurant, who will be providing food and drinks for the opening event.

“With a mission of sustaining and supporting the spirit of improvised music and the true culture of jazz, we are committed to presenting a world class jazz experience in an intimate setting on world famous Sunset Boulevard” – Sam Milgrom, gallery owner.
